Bhowanipore is the South Kolkata region of Kolkata, West Bengal. Bhowanipore, the Indian Netaji Bose's former birthplace, is a suburban area known as Netaji Bhawan.
Many Gujaratis have taken business opportunities to Calcutta about a century ago and decided to settle in the Bhowanipore belt of Lansdowne-Chakraberia-Paddapukur. Many Punjabis were taken to Calcutta by train, jute mills, and the shipping industry. The price of residential accommodation in Bhowanipore has been almost doubling in the last decade and is now among the high-priced neighborhoods in Kolkata. Many major firms, including Exide Industries Limited, Tata Tea Limited, and Phillips India Limited, have their headquarters in Bhowanipore. Also in that region is the headquarters of the Automotive Association of Eastern India.
In Bhowanipore, the wet season is oppressive and usually humid, the dry season is clear, and the year is sunny. Usually, temperatures vary from 52°F to 102°F during the year and are rarely below 47°F or above 108°F.

Bhowanipore is one of Kolkata's most important highways and the town center's most open residential district. All buses running through the southern part of the city provide great service. The Kolkata Metro connects Rabindra Sadan, Netaji Bhavan, and Jatin Das Park to the neighborhood.
Bhowanipore was also called the Cinema Para, or a town with a series of movie theatres. The track began in Purna, next to the Bazaar of Jadu Babu. It was followed, right up to the recesses of the temple of Kalighat, by Bharati, Indira, Bijoli, Basusree, Kalika, and Ujjwala. Their screenings of Bengali, England, and Hindi were mostly well-known. However, in the mid-90s and the first ten years of the 2000s, most halls were closed, as there was no patronage or drying of Bengali's film box office. While the situation is not good for Bharati, Kalika and Ujjwala, Basusree, Indira, and Bijoli are still operational. Bharati, Kalika, and Ujjwala were removed to make room for multi-story houses, housing malls, educational institutions, and matrimonial halls. The conditions are not that good. Bharati, Indira, and Bijoli are still working. The place is also home to the 23 Palls Durga Mandir and the Temple of Nakuleshwar Bhairav, one of the Hindu religion's holiest. It is home to Ashtadhatu Durga and the most famous Temple of Kalighat and Kali.
