The subdistrict Santipur falls in Nadia district situated in West Bengal state, The subdistrict is spread across an area of about 25.88 square kilometres. The place is situated at an altitude of 13 m above sea level. In the 2011 census, Santipur had a population of 288,718, out of which 147,299 were males and 141,419 were females. The literacy rate for the 7+ population was 82.67 per cent.

The climate of Santipur subdistrict is characterized by an oppressive hot summer; high humidity all the year round and well-distributed rainfall during the southwest monsoon season. The cold season is from about the end of November to the end of February. Santipur has a Tropical wet-and-dry climate (Köppen climate classification Aw). The annual mean temperature is 26.8 °C (80 °F); monthly mean temperatures range from 15 °C to 30 °C (59 °F to 86 °F).[1] Summers are hot and humid with temperatures in the low 30's and during dry spells the maximum temperatures often exceed 40 °C (104 °F) during May and June.[1] Winter tends to last for only about two and a half months, with seasonal lows dipping to 9 °C – 11 °C (48.2 °F – 51.8 °F) between December and January. The highest recorded temperature is 43.9 °C (111 °F) and the lowest is 5 °C (41 °F). Often during early summer (mid March to mid May), dusty squalls followed by spells of thunderstorm and heavy rains lash the city, bringing relief from the humid heat. These thunderstorms are convective in nature, and is locally known as Kal baisakhi (Nor'westers)

By Air : The closest airport to Nadia district is the Kolkata airport which is between 100 and 160 km from different parts of the city.

By Train : Nadia is situated on the main rail route connecting Howrah/Kolkata and New Jalpaiguri(NJP) including parts of North Eastern states, the Nadia district can easily be accessed by rail. The major railway stations are Nabadwip Dham, Ranaghat and others with regular trains to Kolkata/Howrah/NJP/Guwahati. The International Rail Link connecting India and Bangladesh passes through Nadia District with Gende as the last railway station at Indian Border.

By Road : Bifurcated by National Highway-34 on the North and East, the district can also be accessed by road from other parts of the country. The regional node and the district head Quarter Krishnagar is approximately 110 kms from Kolkata and easily accessible with regular bus service from Kolkata and North Bengal quite convenient for visitors.
