In the Indian state of West Bengal, Haldia is an industrial port city in Purba-Medinipur. It is a big river harbor and a commercial rope about 124 km southwest of Kolkata near the Hooghly River mouth, one of the Ganges distributors.
The city of Haldia lies at the foot of the Ganges River along the Haldi River. Haldia is a center for many petrochemical companies and is being planned for Kolkata as a major commercial port.Haldia has 170,695 inhabitants. Males make up 53% of the population and 47% of females. 13% of the population in Haldia is below the age of 6 years.
Haldia has a tropical Savanna climate with winter temperatures ranging from around 7 °C (45 °F) to a minimum of 22 °C (72 °F). Hot and wet summers can be sweltering.

From Bus, it will take 292 km from Kolkata to Digha and then Kolkata.
If you are traveling directly from Kolkata to Haldia, it will take 2 hours(78 km) to reach the train. If you are traveling to Mignapur first from Kolkata and then to Haldia, it will take 232 km.
Bus links Haldia to Kolkata. New air-conditioned buses have recently been introduced, taking less than 3 hours to Kolkata. Kharagpur is also linked by bus to Haldia. The main train station between Chennai, Kolkata, and Delhi is the Haldia railway station. It would be best to go to either Mecheda, Kolkata, or Kharagpur, save one or two weekly trains to Delhi and Chennai. Haldia is linked to the Ganges, Bhagirathi, and Hooghly River System, via the 1625 km inland waterways, National Waterway 1, from Prayagraj to Haldia, also through the (Sagar). A catamaran service was used from Kolkata via Haldia but was retired because of its high price and lack of popularity.
