Vanasthalipuram is a residential neighborhood located in Hyderabad, in the Indian state of Telangana, India. It is located in the L.B. Nagar zone along the highway towards two areas known as Vijayawada and Nagarjuna Sagar. During the rule of the Nizam of Hyderabad, the area used to be a dense forest with wild animals and famous as a hunting ground, hence the name Vanasthalipuram (Vana="forest"+sthali="place"+puram-a locality or site). Vanasthalipuram has derived its name from Harini Vanasthali, a Deer Park which is located beside a national highway. It was originally known as Shikharghar and later the name was changed to Vanasthalipuram.

It is named after Rajiv Gandhi, former Prime Minister of India. From the airport, you can take a taxi or cab to Vanasthalipuram.

By Rail: Hyderabad Deccan railway station, which is popularly known as Nampally Station, (station code: HYB) is located at Nampally, it is a locality in Hyderabad constructed earlier run by the Nizam's Guaranteed State Railway of the Hyderabad State. From the railway station, you can take a taxi or cab to Vanasthalipuram.
