Kamptee is a suburb of Nagpur city and a municipal council in Nagpur district in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is part of the Nagpur metropolitan region development authority. Kalameshwar is spread across about 14.27 square kilometers and is situated at 269 m above sea level. As of the 2001 India census, Kamptee had a population of 86,793. Males constitute 51% of the people and females 49%. Kamptee has an average literacy rate of 76%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 81%, and female literacy is 72%.

By Road : Nagpur is a major junction for roadways as India's two major national highways, Srinagar-Kanyakumari (National Highway 44) and Mumbai-Kolkata (NH 53(Economic Corridor1(EC1)) pass through the city. National Highway 47 connects Nagpur to Bamanbore in Gujarat. Nagpur is at the junction of two Asian Highways, namely AH43 Agra to Matara, Sri Lanka, and AH46 connecting Kharagpur, India, to Dhule, India. The highway to Mumbai via Aurangabad, a shorter route, was re-built on a national highway basis. This highway significantly reduces the distance traveled by NH 6 and NH 3 between the two cities.
