Chanakyapuri is a neighborhood and an Enclave established in 1956 in New Delhi. It is also a subdivision of the New Delhi district, and most foreign embassies are here in New Delhi. It was the first major extension of New Delhi. The Central Public Works Department developed a large area of land acquired for a Gurjar village located there to create this diplomatic enclave in 1950.
