Butchayyapeta is a town and a Mandal in the Visakhapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh in
India. It belongs to the Butchayyapeta Mandal in the revenue division of Visakhapatnam. It
is bordered by Chodavaram Mandal towards the East, Cheedikada Mandal towards the North,
Ravikamatham Mandal towards the west, and Madugula Mandal towards the west. Most of the
population gets their income from the agriculture sector with the crops of Sugarcane, paddy,
betel leaves, and mango. Milk, meat, and fisheries are also popular ways of income amongst
the people here. The remaining population is indulged in manufacturing, construction, mining
minerals, and manual laborers.
According to the 2001 census of India, Butchayyapeta had a total population of 4,405; out of
which 2,210 were males and 2,195 were females. The average literacy rate was 44.88%.
